Cardinal Points Advertising Co., Ltd. Designs Award-Winning Website for Hong Kong Angelman Syndrome Foundation

Website design combines innovation, creativity, and technology to provide a positive and uplifting resource for Angelman Syndrome patients and their families.

The Hong Kong Angelman Syndrome Foundation's new website, designed by Cardinal Points Advertising Co., Ltd., is an innovative and engaging platform that provides a wealth of information and resources to individuals and families affected by Angelman Syndrome. The website's unique design, which was inspired by the patients and their families, has been recognized with a Silver A' Design Award.

Cardinal Points Advertising Co., Ltd. was inspired by the children and parents of Angelman Syndrome sufferers to create a colorful design theme and bold iconography for the website. The aim was to infuse the website with positive energy and provide a source of encouragement for all its visitors.

What sets this design apart is its focus on being a positive and uplifting online knowledge resource. The website is designed to assist individuals and families in overcoming the difficulties of living with Angelman Syndrome, a complex genetic disorder that primarily affects the nervous system. The responsive design ensures that visitors have access to information on a diverse range of mobile devices as well as desktop computers.

The website was realized using the latest responsive HTML and Javascript, allowing it to fit the display of any device screen. It includes a Content Management System (CMS) to update the latest topics, events, publications, and fundraising in English, Traditional, and Simplified Chinese. The design works well on mobile devices, tablets, and desktops, even on very large resolution screens.

While scrolling, the page sub-navigation menu follows the user and provides access to different sections of the page quickly and easily. This is substituted with an accordion-style navigation system when on the limited spaces of handheld mobile devices. The design was influenced by how sufferers of Angelman Syndrome would be attracted to water and the sound/texture of plastic bags - how it made them giggle and laugh. This led to the use of bright colors and bold icons in the final product.

The project kicked off at the beginning of July 2015 and was released in three phases in Hong Kong. The website design layout is the copyright of Cardinal Points Advertising Co., Ltd., and the logotype, imagery, and content are the copyright of the Hong Kong Angelman Foundation. This Design was awarded Silver in A' Website and Web Design Awards in 2017, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
