Theresa Lambrecht's Diamond-Inspired Luxury Packaging

High Fashion Meets Innovation in Lambrechtdesign's Award-Winning Packaging

Theresa Lambrecht's design, titled "Diamonds are Forever," is a high-end packaging solution for a luxury cosmetic series based on diamond dust. The design draws inspiration from the product's main ingredient, resulting in a unique diamond pattern that adorns each product in the range. The design's uniqueness lies in its ability to mirror the product's luxury appeal through its packaging, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two.

The design's realization is rooted in Italy, a hub for luxury packaging manufacturers. The cardboard boxes are paper-based, shaped, screen printed, and finished by Cavalieri e Amoretti, with raw materials sourced from Fedrigoni, a traditional Italian paper manufacturer. The result is a packaging that not only looks like a diamond but also feels like one, thanks to the surface structure effect of the Fedrigoni paper.

Despite its high-end appeal, the interaction between the package and the user is straightforward. Each box is designed for a long life consumer experience, resistant to water and fluid influences, and sturdy enough to withstand repeated opening and closing without loss of functionality.

The project, which began in April 2015 and concluded in January 2016, was based in Berlin. The manufacturing process took about two weeks in early 2016, with the product release in mid-2016. Initially distributed nationwide in Germany, the product is set to reach the rest of Europe by the end of 2016.

Despite the challenges of designing a reserved and conservative packaging with a high appeal of luxury and classiness, Lambrecht managed to create a fascinating symbiosis of color and material. The highlight is the diamond crown signet, a silver-spotted tangible diamond structure illustration that serves as a real eye-catcher.

Theresa Lambrecht's "Diamonds are Forever" design was awarded the Golden A' Packaging Design Award in 2017, a testament to her innovative approach to packaging design. The award recognizes marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that advance art, science, design, and technology.
