Echoed Natural Landscape: A Cozy Residential House by Yueh-Huang Liao

Creating a harmonious conversation between design and environment

Leisure is the central theme of this design, with open and semi-open areas that provide a spacious and stress-free environment. The integration of landscape views and interior spaces creates a multi-dimensional and abundant experience for the dwellers.

The design features various materials that contribute to its unique charm. Grey travertine behind the sofa corresponds to the shape of Guan Yin Mountain and Yang Ming Mountain, while the main wall utilizes Côte d'Azur Stone, reflecting the nearby riverside view. Wooden floors in the public areas and bedrooms add a touch of natural elegance. Additionally, cotton and linen fabrics have been incorporated to create a gentle and pleasant impression of life.

With an interior space of approximately 200m2, the design emphasizes open and semi-open areas in the public spaces, creating a smooth, relaxed, and comfortable linear flow. The choice of materials enhances the overall aesthetic, providing a generous and expansive visual experience.

The Echoed Natural Landscape design showcases the designer's meticulous attention to detail. The height ratio between the ceiling and windows was carefully considered to bring in natural light and capture the precious surrounding views. Extensive research was conducted to find the perfect materials for the main wall behind the sofa, ensuring a seamless integration with the overall design.

Completed between February 2015 and April 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan, this design project demonstrates the importance of living comfortably and relaxing in the city. By understanding the dweller's needs and exploring innovative methods, Yueh-Huang Liao and the design team have successfully created a natural and inviting atmosphere that complements the surrounding environment.

The Echoed Natural Landscape design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2017. This prestigious accolade recognizes the outstanding creativity and ingenuity of the design, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology. By improving the quality of life and making the world a better place, this design exemplifies the power of thoughtful and innovative design.
