The design's inspiration stems from the desire to create a harmonious blend of public and private spaces. The study room, which serves as a medium connecting the living room and kitchen, is installed with two double glass doors. This design element not only distinguishes the inner and outer space but also extends the visual effect and strengthens the depth in the living room. The three wall cabinets adjacent to the living room create a U-shaped space, providing a sense of continuity and flow.
What sets this design apart is its unique blend of composure and silence, characteristic of the oriental style. The porch is adorned with four delicate panels, complete with intricate carving woodworks. The floor, made of hexagon black rocks, contributes to a solemn and warm atmosphere. This warmth extends to the private spaces, achieved through the use of brown wooden walls, geometric ceiling, and dark wooden furniture and floor.
The realization of this design was achieved through careful planning and execution. Upon entering the main public area, one is greeted by a space composed of the living room, kitchen, and study room. The walls, painted mainly in dark brown, define the boundaries among spaces, while the grey brown woodworks and delicate serpeggiante add a touch of elegance.
The design project, which spans 315 square meters, was completed in January 2016 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. The city, once a fertile farmland, has transformed into a bustling, tech-savvy hub. The building's location in an emerging city center, surrounded by parkland and public infrastructure, offers a residence with complete life function and ecological environment.
One of the challenges overcome in this design was the integration of storage and display elements. The cabinet, embedded in the wooden wall, serves both functions. The display of artworks, book collections, and a large painting on the wall enhances the space's intensity, creating a unique blend of humanity and art.
