Instead of incorporating intricate and classical elements, the design of Doricious focuses on simplicity and modernity. Simple panels and 3D metal frames are used to create a European dining space that breathes modern simplicity. Teak wood, taupe paint, matte gold iron decorations, and grass lamps add warmth to the space. Details such as wood art, metal elements, mullion glass structures, gratings, and Bolon carpets give the space a distinct character.
Bright and lively colors such as red, yellow, and orange are used for the 3D paintings on the wall, creating a playful and appetizing dining atmosphere. Fun ornaments further enhance the festive vibe, making every visit to Doricious a delightful experience.
The brand image, visual design, and interior planning of Doricious follow the theme by combining colors, materials, and styles to connect the food and its environment. The design team, led by Chen Wan-hao, carefully considered the technical specifications and ensured that the design elements complemented the overall concept.
The project started in December 2015 and finished in March 2016, with the restaurant opening its doors to the public in May 2016 in Taipei. Throughout the design process, the team faced challenges in creating a calming and elegant theme while incorporating geometric shapes that surprise with variation. Wall mirrors were strategically placed to give the illusion of space and enhance the ceilings, which glow in unison with the floors. The rich texture of white oak adds depth and layers to the harmonious structure.
Recognizing its outstanding design, Doricious was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. Doricious stands as a testament to the creativity and resourcefulness of the design team, contributing to the improvement of quality of life and making the world a better place.
