The Elegant Conformity: A Harmonious Blend of Art and Architecture

Yuan-Ting Chuang and Jui-Wen Cheng's Award-Winning Residence Design

Located in the residential district of Humei, Tainan City, Taiwan, The Elegant Conformity stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of art and architecture. The design, inspired by the surrounding landscapes, is a perfect integration of the residence into its environment. The villa's grey-white design style, coupled with the delicate design of the terrace, balcony, and courtyard, creates a serene space where residents and the natural environment interact harmoniously.

The design's unique properties lie in its simplicity and the application of both artificial and natural elements. The interior design, based on a modern style of grey and white, features white walls with the quality of wood grains. The public living spaces on the ground and second floor incorporate both eastern and western cultural elements, reflecting the spirits of Zen and modern arts.

The realization of this design is a testament to the designers' creativity and technical prowess. The living room features a beautiful stone wall that represents a mountain, a large ink painting that represents a waterfall, and a carpet and leather couches that represent the grains of stones. The dining and cooking area, decorated with modern sculptures, mirrors, and glass, exudes a sense of human culture and relationships.

The project, completed in December 2016, spans 548 square meters. Despite the challenges faced, such as creating a balance between cold and hot, yin and yang in the main bedroom, the designers were able to create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The use of artificial stone walls, wood ceilings, and dangling lightings in the bedrooms further enhance the visual appeal of the residence.

The Elegant Conformity was awarded the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, strong technical characteristics, and splendid artistic skill. The design, admired for its level of excellence, indeed introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
