NTC Office: Redefining the Workplace

A Transparent and Fluid Environment

The NTC Office project, designed by Mahdi Fakhimi and his team, is a remarkable transformation of a petrochemical office space. The previous architecture lacked expertise and failed to provide a pleasant and functional workplace. With the goal of creating an agreeable environment, the design team implemented innovative solutions to overcome the challenges of cramped and dull rooms.

The most striking feature of the NTC Office is its transparent and fluid environment. Glass dividers were strategically used to separate spaces, including suspended glass partitions. This design choice not only allows for privacy but also ensures transparency and visibility between managers and employees. The integration of privacy and transparency creates a harmonious and efficient workspace.

The use of glass as the primary material contributes to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the office. Moving and fixed glass dividers were employed for doors and partition walls, while suspended glass dividers were a unique and innovative addition. These suspended dividers provide privacy while maintaining visual integration. Window roller blinds were also incorporated to offer additional privacy when needed.

The NTC Office covers an area of approximately 196 square meters, with 90 square meters dedicated to the workspaces of executive directors and employees. The office is located on the 5th floor of a multi-storey apartment building, providing a convenient and accessible location for the team.

The design team paid special attention to the lighting systems in the office. A combination of white, orange, and gray colors, along with various lighting layers, creates a soft and pleasant atmosphere. General lighting systems are strategically placed to provide brightness, while focused lighting systems cater to individual work zones and can be adjusted as needed. The careful consideration of lighting enhances the efficiency and productivity of the employees.

The NTC Office project commenced in June 2016 and was completed in July 2016. The office is situated on Mollasadra Street, near Vanak Square, ensuring a convenient location for both employees and visitors.

The design team conducted extensive research on office design, exploring various sources such as books, magazines, and websites. Their aim was to create a setup that would enhance productivity and create a pleasant working environment.

The main challenge faced by the design team was the limited space and excessive partition walls. To address this, the team removed the partition walls and utilized glass as the dominant material. This solution not only provided transparency but also fulfilled the owner's requirement of relative privacy in each workspace.

The NTC Office project has been recognized for its excellence and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2017. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate exceptional technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
