Kryolan / Nubia Istanbul: A Luxurious Shop Design

Creating a Visually Stunning Space for Luxery Brands

The design team at Idea Architecture, led by Yasemin Karadeniz and Yücel Karadeniz, tackled this challenge with a combination of innovative interior design, careful lighting details, and custom display units. The shop, situated below road level, required a design that would enhance its visibility and draw attention to the brands it houses.

The key to the success of this design lies in the use of visuals. The team created special wall displays, aisle displays, vitrine displays, and makeup units for each brand, ensuring that every product is showcased in a unique and eye-catching way. By using different elements and details, they were able to create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

The design process began with careful planning and settlement. Once the placement of the brand's display units and visual displays was finalized, the team moved on to designing the ceiling and lighting plan. It was crucial for the shop to have a visible showcase despite being slightly below road level.

The realization of this design involved the use of various materials and technologies. Extra clear glass, wood veneered panels, lacquered panels, barisol ceiling elements, black granite ceramic tiles, and LED lighting elements were all incorporated to create a luxurious and sophisticated atmosphere.

The Kryolan / Nubia Shop Design spans an area of 170 square meters and was completed within a month. The construction process took an additional six weeks. The shop is located in Nişantaşı, Istanbul, Turkey.

Throughout the design process, the team conducted extensive research on the brands and their display requirements. They experimented with different lighting details in their atelier and implemented the most effective ones in the final design. Collaboration with gypsum wall teams, carpenters, iron construction teams, mechanical teams, and glass teams ensured the successful realization of the design.

One of the main challenges faced by the design team was the need to showcase more than 5 luxury brands, each with its own unique image, in a space that was slightly below road level. However, through their innovative design solutions, the team was able to create a space that is both visually stunning and functional.

The Kryolan / Nubia Shop Design, created by Idea Architecture in 2014, has garnered recognition and accolades. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2016 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This award recognizes designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. The design is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
