ThinX Wash: A Masterpiece of Art and Functionality

Maik Juch's Award-Winning Design Combines Aesthetics and Innovation

Maik Juch's ThinX Wash, a puristic washbasin, is a testament to the designer's commitment to uniqueness, expressiveness, and simplicity of form. This design, which won the Silver A' Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design Award in 2017, showcases a striking contrast between a white Corean washbasin and a wooden frame, creating an exclusive flair.

ThinX Wash stands out due to its unique properties. The free-standing vanity features a Corian surface and an elegant recessed flat Corean washbasin. The design's attractiveness is primarily determined by the concise thinX frame and high-quality materials. In a nod to modern technology, up to two hidden induction charging stations are integrated into the workspace.

The realization of this design involved the use of LG HI-MACS Natural Acrylic Stone for the washbasin and Oak for the wooden frame. The technical specifications of the design include a height of 90cm, length of 200cm, and thickness of 50cm. The design is tagged as a washbasin, washtable, sideboard, corean, and oak.

The ThinX Wash was designed alongside a furniture series characterized by a thin, intersecting wooden frame. The initial designs were made in 2013, with the production of the ThinX Wash following in 2016. The design was presented at the Ambiente 2017 as part of the German Design Award in Frankfurt am Main.

Research for this design focused on creating a timeless, simple, and functional wash. The goal was to integrate contemporary electrical installations such as induction charging stations invisibly into the workspace and insert sockets into the drawer. Another criterion was to remove necessary cables from the field of vision and create joint-free surfaces for easy cleaning.

Design challenges included creating a slim yet stable frame and seamless connections. Another challenge was planning the water supply and sewage pipelines as plaster variants. Despite these challenges, the design successfully combines the unnatural with the natural, giving it a sense of naturalness. The puristic washbasin with the drawers, which close on fermentation, intensifies the impression of a closed object. The corpus of Korean looks as if in one piece, the inserts of wood reinforce the connection to the frame.

ThinX Wash is a testament to Maik Juch's commitment to high quality, durability, and aesthetic value. It showcases the designer's ability to create true masterpieces that combine form and function in a unique and innovative way. The design's success is evident in its accolade - the Silver A' Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design Award in 2017, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
