Misty Home: A Modern and Bold Residential Duplex

Creating a Unifying Space for Multi-Generational Living

What sets the Misty Home apart is its ability to cater to the needs of each family member while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic. The design team at Eman El Garhy took inspiration from industrial interiors, selecting pieces that are as much about function as they are about style. The result is a space that feels unfinished yet cohesive, creating a modern and bold atmosphere.

One of the key strengths of the Misty Home is its ability to create beneficial spaces for each member of the family. From private zones to shared and gathering areas, this design unifies the family, from the old grandma to the two-year-old baby. The layout of the home allows for interaction while also providing private spaces for individual members to retreat to when needed.

The design process for the Misty Home began with a questionnaire held with all family members to understand their preferences and needs. The design team then used durable yet stylish materials, such as porcelain for flooring, brick walls, and rough texture paint in a light grey color, to bring the vision to life.

This residential duplex spans 320 square meters and features four bedrooms, a reception area, dining space, kitchen, kitchenette, and four bathrooms. The layout of the home ensures that each family member has their own space while also providing areas for quality family time.

Located in The Waterway Compound in New Cairo, Egypt, the Misty Home is a thoughtfully designed mixed-use development. The project began in early 2016 and was completed at the end of December 2016, showcasing the dedication and attention to detail put into every aspect of the design.

The Misty Home is a testament to the research and creativity of the design team at Eman El Garhy. By understanding the unique needs of the family and incorporating their preferences, this design achieves both aesthetic and functional goals. Computer-generated images and videos were used to visualize different spaces, ensuring that the final design met the expectations of the clients.

Overcoming the challenge of designing for a multi-generational family, Eman El Garhy created a space that balances privacy and togetherness. From the separate levels for the grandmother and children's bedrooms to the common living room and master bedroom for family time, the Misty Home offers a harmonious living experience.

The Misty Home was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach to interior space. This prestigious award recognizes designs that meet professional and industrial requirements while also contributing to a better world.
