Reque's design process involved the integration of techniques and materials from two cultures. Her inspiration came from the contemporary significance she found in an ancient material, clay, during her time at the Accademia di Venezia. She believes that each piece encapsulates fragments of life, moments, and diverse cultures that communicate with strength. The result is a form of eclecticism and fusion, brought to life by light.
The 'LUCE' (2015) has been exhibited at various prestigious events, including EXPO Milano 2015 and Art Monaco-Montecarlo 2015. It also featured in the "Squarci nelle Tenebre" exhibition at PaRDes Venice, an art gallery by Tobia Ravà, from June to October 2016.
The realization of 'LUCE' involved a meticulous process. After modeling the clay, Reque began a process of deconstructing the traditional form. The clay was then dried for 20 days, followed by two rounds of firing and glazing. The final touches included the installation of LED lighting and the insertion of Murano blown glass flames.
The technical specifications of 'LUCE' are as follows: it measures 36x63x36 cm, and the technique involves a sculpture-lamp made of refractory clay, white enamel, and crystalline with copper oxide, green ramino, at a temperature of 1060°. The lamp also incorporates Murano blown glass and a 20w 1901 lm LED.
The project began in Venice (Accademia delle Belle Arti) in October 2014 and was completed by December 2014. The design was awarded Silver in the A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award in 2017, a prestigious recognition given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
Reque's 'LUCE' is a testament to the power of cultural fusion in design, a piece that not only illuminates a space but also serves as a beacon of innovative artistry.
