Pilo's design is a result of a collaboration between biomedical engineers and industrial designers. It offers the most appropriate supporting height and pressure-relieving angle for the head and neck. The pillow's low-poly structure outlines a suitable curve based on anthropometry and ergonomics data. The pillowcase, made of a special blended fabric, provides a comfortable feeling on the skin, being refreshingly cool in summer and mildly warm in winter.

The pillow also includes an audio cable, allowing users to play music from any device with a 3.5 mm audio connection. Users can even make phone calls if their cellphone is connected. With the accompanying app, users can sleep to the sound of nature, such as the ocean, forest, lake, and fireplace. Pilo does not need to be charged, and an extension cable can be used to put the cellphone away, ensuring a completely undisturbed environment.

The design of Pilo started in early 2016 in Shenzhen, China. The team faced the challenge of creating a high-quality sound field within the pillow while keeping the sound units invisible and imperceptible. With the help of a professional audio studio, they were able to customize the sound units, adjust the sound field, and protect the loudspeakers with a special silicon cover. The result was even more amazing than they had expected.

Pilo has been recognized for its innovative design, winning the Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2017.
