Poly Garden Sales Center

A Unique Blend of Oriental and Western Elegance

The inspiration for this project came from the rich history and artistic heritage of the region. The town of Duanzhou, now known as Zhaoqing, was once the home of Emperor Song Huizong, a talented artist and calligrapher. The interior architectural space concept and detailing of the sales center were developed based on the integral structure of his calligraphy and the silky painting style.

What sets the Poly Garden Sales Center apart is its unique location and purpose. Situated in Zhaoqing, a city in the Pearl River Delta, this multi-family residential project is a major development aimed at upgrading the living standards in the area. The project covers a vast area of 140,000 square meters, with a buildable area of 360,000 square meters.

The design of the sales center reflects a sense of elegance and grandeur, combining Western and Oriental elements. The color palette of black, grey, and white draws inspiration from calligraphy brushes, ink, and ink stones. The centerpiece of the center is an octagonal hall with a stunning arched glass dome, complemented by a black metal chandelier and distinctive brackets that give the space a sense of elevation.

Technical specifications of the sales center include a total area of 950 square meters, with the highest ceiling reaching 13.3 meters and the lowest at 3.2 meters. The model area spans 104 square meters, while the bar area covers 93.6 square meters. The central hall provides 210 square meters of space, serving as the congregating point for visitors.

The design team, led by David Chang, brought together a group of talented individuals to realize this project. Their expertise in interior design and decoration ensured that every detail was carefully considered and executed. The result is a sales center that not only showcases the residential project but also serves as a testament to the fusion of culture and design.

The Poly Garden Sales Center is not just a physical space; it is an interactive environment that guides visitors through the various areas. The octagonal hall acts as a central hub, connecting the model display area, the bar, and the negotiating area. Its strategic design allows for a smooth flow of traffic, leading potential buyers to the lobby.

The project, which began in May 2015 and concluded in September 2016, required extensive research and creative problem-solving. One of the challenges faced by the design team was the lack of a skylight in the original structure. To address this, they drew inspiration from traditional Southern Chinese architecture and created a 14-meter-high dome with a skylight. This not only added a sense of grandeur to the space but also allowed ample natural light to illuminate the interior.

The Poly Garden Sales Center is a testament to the power of design to transform spaces and create unique experiences. It seamlessly blends Oriental and Western elements, creating a harmonious environment that reflects the cultural heritage of the region. This project has been recognized for its excellence, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2017.
