Quick: The Cordless Iron Designed for Modern Lifestyles

Revolutionizing Ironing for the Millennial Generation

The Quick cordless iron is a groundbreaking design by F.Guarrasi, M.Antonetti, and G.Silvestrini that aims to transform the way we approach ironing in our fast-paced modern lives.

The traditional iron has long been a staple in households, but with changing habits and lifestyles, the need for a more efficient and convenient ironing solution has emerged. The Quick cordless iron is specifically designed for millennials who iron frequently but for shorter durations.

Understanding the target users' ironing habits, the design team set out to create an iron that would make the ironing process faster and more convenient at every stage. The result is a compact and innovative iron that challenges the traditional shape of the object.

The most notable feature of the Quick iron is its cordless design. The water tank, which also serves as the handle, allows for a more compact shape and eliminates the hassle of dealing with wires. Additionally, a charging base ensures that the iron is always ready for use.

Not only is the Quick iron highly functional, but it also boasts a sleek and modern aesthetic. The designers wanted to create an iron that users would be proud to display on a shelf or desk, much like a stylish shaving razor. By reimagining the iron as a design object, the Quick iron adds a touch of sophistication to the ironing experience.

The Quick iron is made using high-quality materials such as polycarbonate for the main body and tire for the handle, ensuring durability and a premium feel. Its compact dimensions of 110 x 100 x 120 mm make it perfect for small living spaces or for those who are always on the go.

Operating the Quick iron is intuitive and user-friendly. The kit includes the iron and a charging base. The iron itself is divided into two parts: the main body and the handle, which also functions as the water tank. Circular controls on the iron allow users to adjust the power, while a circular LED indicator turns blue when the iron needs to be charged. A steam button on the handle provides added convenience.

The Quick cordless iron was developed over a period of 2-3 weeks at Politecnico di Milano, where the design team conducted extensive research on changing ironing habits among young people. The goal was to create an iron that would cater to the needs of millennials who iron frequently but for shorter durations.

The Quick cordless iron has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Iron category in the prestigious A' Design Award for Home Appliances Design in 2017. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.

With its compact design, cordless functionality, and sleek aesthetic, the Quick cordless iron is revolutionizing the way we approach ironing. It is a testament to the power of design to enhance everyday experiences and cater to the evolving needs of modern lifestyles.
