Hairdressers spend an average of 4.5 hours a day using hair dryers, which can take a toll on their ears, arms, and shoulders. In fact, by the end of their careers, 70% of hairdressers experience wrist and shoulder articulation problems. Recognizing the need for a solution, Hosseini set out to design an innovative hair dryer that would prioritize the comfort and well-being of hairdressers.

The Ergonomic Salon Hair Dryer features a unique design that utilizes the space under the salon chair. By placing the motor of the hair dryer in this space, the noise generated by the motor is effectively isolated. Additionally, a weatherproof and soundproof pipe transfers the air from the motor to the handle, further reducing noise levels. This thoughtful design not only minimizes the impact on the hairdresser's ears but also creates a more pleasant salon environment for both clients and stylists.

Furthermore, by removing the motor from the handle, the weight and size of the hair dryer are significantly reduced. The Ergonomic Salon Hair Dryer weighs less than 80 grams and measures less than 14cm in size (without the nozzle). This lightweight and compact design allows hairdressers to maneuver the hair dryer with ease, reducing strain on their arms and shoulders.

Operating the Ergonomic Salon Hair Dryer is as simple as using any other hair dryer. It features a wireless control button on the handle for turning it on and off, as well as plus [+] and minus [-] buttons to adjust the motor speed and air temperature. Additionally, the hair dryer's head can be unlocked and adjusted to different angles, providing flexibility and convenience during styling.

The development of the Ergonomic Salon Hair Dryer began in December 2016 and was completed in January 2017. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to identify the problems faced by hairdressers with current salon hair dryers. Ideas were generated, evaluated, and iterated upon through a collaborative process involving feedback from hairdressers themselves.

The innovative design of the Ergonomic Salon Hair Dryer has not gone unnoticed. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Prosumer Products, Tools, and Machinery Design category in 2017. This prestigious award recognizes designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, technical skills, and resourcefulness, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
