The new BTS office is designed as a map of London, with each area themed after a different neighborhood. The meeting rooms draw inspiration from Shoreditch and Canary Wharf, while the canteen embodies the spirit of Camden Town. The main working area is themed after Notting Hill, and even the finance room is transformed into the Carnival Room. This unique approach reflects the dynamic nature of BTS and their commitment to creating a collaborative work environment.
The project presented several challenges, as BTS needed to transition from a predominantly desk-based setup to a shared space that encourages social interaction. The designers successfully tripled the size of the canteen, enclosing it to create a lively atmosphere where employees can be loud and expressive without worrying about disturbing others. The design incorporates broken graphics reminiscent of graffiti, complemented by a dynamic lighting scheme that adds to the energetic ambiance.
Advanced CAD technology played a crucial role in the realization of the project, allowing the designers to accurately plan and execute the office fitout. The resulting space spans 8,000 square feet and had a value of £727,000, reflecting the scale and complexity of the undertaking.
The BTS office fitout received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious accolade celebrates designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
The BTS office fitout not only provides a functional workspace but also showcases the organization's dedication to the fabric of London. By incorporating elements from various neighborhoods, the design pays homage to the city's diverse culture and serves as a constant source of inspiration for BTS employees.
With its London-themed workspace, BTS has created an environment that reflects their values and promotes collaboration. The office fitout stands as a testament to the power of design in shaping a vibrant and productive work culture.
