The Pavilia Hill: A Serene Oasis Amidst Urban Chaos

Atelier Ikebuchi's Award-Winning Design Fuses Luxury and Tranquility

In the heart of a bustling city, Atelier Ikebuchi has created a serene haven for residents of The Pavilia Hill. This luxurious clubhouse, inspired by the tranquil hill in the backdrop, offers a peaceful retreat from the hectic urban life.

Atelier Ikebuchi's design stands out for its intimate and luxurious interiors that create a relaxed and homely atmosphere. The unique feature of this design is its ability to retain the spiritually fulfilling experience of visiting an onsen, a Japanese hot spring. The interplay of light and shadow in the spaces brings a sense of peacefulness and calm, providing a spiritually fulfilling experience.

The Pavilia Hill clubhouse is a testament to the use of natural materials that age beautifully. The 1650sqm space is adorned with luxurious materials and elements, creating an atmosphere of relaxed elegance. The design is a perfect embodiment of the wabi-sabi aesthetic, a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection.

The clubhouse offers a variety of facilities for the residents. One can enjoy tea surrounded by a Zen garden at the Tea Pavilion, or unwind in the main lobby, which features a large library and a bar counter. The two private dining rooms come with a walk-in cellar and a fully-equipped kitchen for professional-chef use. The upper floor houses an indoor pool with a gold leaf ceiling and openable windows that offer a view of the mountain. The pool area also features a water cascade jacuzzi, and a private onsen with a waterfall shower that opens to a deck with a mountain view.

The design process of The Pavilia Hill clubhouse started in February 2013 in Hong Kong and was completed in July 2016. To develop the Tea Pavilion and the onsen, Atelier Ikebuchi conducted extensive research on Japanese tea ceremonies and various types of onsens. The aim was to preserve the authenticity of these cultural elements while adapting them to modern living.

One of the design challenges was the creation of the black indoor pool with its gold leaf ceiling. The pool has openable windows to the view of the green hill behind, allowing it to be either indoor or half outdoor depending on the season. The gold leaf ceiling reflects the beauty of the changing seasons, captured best in the dark space of the black pool.

The Pavilia Hill clubhouse design by Atelier Ikebuchi was awarded the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The design of The Pavilia Hill clubhouse is a testament to Atelier Ikebuchi's commitment to creating spaces that are not just aesthetically pleasing, but also provide a sense of peace and tranquility.
