Sunshine Plant Nature: Infusing Scandinavian Flair into a Commercial Space

Creating a Natural and Green Design with Interaction in Mind

The Sunshine Plant Nature project, designed by Hung Jui Chen, infuses a Scandinavian flair into a commercial space located on the first floor of a former shopping mall in Taipei, Taiwan. The owner's vision was to create a space that emphasizes natural and green design while maintaining an open and airy feeling. The approximately 100m2 outdoor terrace allows for interaction and learning experiences, such as preparing fresh food for pets.

The unique feature of this design lies in its ability to seamlessly connect the interior and exterior spaces. The light army green color, curved shapes, and white exterior wall create a harmonious blend between the two areas. The concealed storage room, inspired by a birdcage mesh, not only adds a lighting effect but also creates the illusion of a higher ceiling height.

The project's specifications include the use of bendable boards, titanium plated metal, spc flooring, Italian special paint, system panels, terrazzo, steel parts, peg boards, silestone, and lacquered glass. The combination of these materials and the careful attention to detail results in a space that exudes elegance and sophistication.

The interior design of Sunshine Plant Nature is centered around the concept of a teaching area. The bar table, created using circular bendable boards, seamlessly integrates with the teaching area, providing a functional and visually appealing space. The room is well-lit, with abundant sunlight filling every corner, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was the distribution of air conditioning ducts in the open area. To address this issue, the designer used a curved shape to trim and conceal the air conditioning pipes and cabling in a radial manner, ensuring that the coolness is strong enough while maintaining a visually pleasing aesthetic.

The Sunshine Plant Nature project was completed in June 2021 and has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This award recognizes designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With its infusion of Scandinavian flair, emphasis on natural and green design, and seamless integration of interior and exterior spaces, Sunshine Plant Nature sets a new standard for commercial spaces, creating a harmonious and inviting environment for both customers and pets alike.
