The inspiration for this design came from the elegant contrast that exists in nature. The designer saw the potential for the organic, live wood to serve as a complimentary background to highlight the futuristic Apple products. The result is a store that combines the warmth and charm of cottage interiors with the cutting-edge technology of Apple.
One of the standout features of the BloorWest Apple Specialist Store is the use of live wood tables. These tables, coordinated with the cottage feel of the interiors, provide a striking contrast to the sleek design of the Apple products. Imagine seeing a MacBook Pro sitting on a live wood table under a staggered stressed wood canopy - it's a sight that captures attention and creates a memorable experience.
In addition to the live wood tables, the store also features sculptural floating accessory units that are illuminated from underneath. This unique design element draws further attention to the interior and adds to the overall futuristic aesthetic of the space.
The BloorWest Apple Specialist Store spans 1,500 square feet and is located at 2344 Bloor Street West in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The design project took place from June 2013 to February 2014.
This exceptional design has been recognized with the prestigious A' Design Award. In 2014, it was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. The BloorWest Apple Specialist Store stands out for its strong technical characteristics and its ability to evoke positive feelings of amazement and wonder.
