Millton Yu's Award-Winning Public Facility Design: A Fusion of Past and Future

Unveiling the Unique Properties and Inspirations Behind the Design

Millton Yu, an acclaimed designer, has crafted an immersive public facility that blends history, culture, and futuristic elements. This design, which won the Bronze A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, is a testament to the power of innovative architecture in enhancing public spaces.

Millton Yu's design was inspired by history, culture, and life. He sought to create a space where people could feel fully immersed. The design incorporates elements of a bathhouse, patio, and terrace, creating a contrast between the past and future, reality and virtualness.

What sets this design apart is its unique use of metal construction. This allows for a see-through effect, fusing sunlight and sci-fi elements into an elegant space. The overlapping metal bars and reflections encourage appreciation of the original architecture through the lines. The waterscape by the entrance merges with metal and stone material, creating a space for plants to grow and symbolizing the symbiosis of inorganic and organic.

The design was realized using advanced technology. The project, which covers a total area of 350 square meters, with an interior of 106 square meters, was completed in January 2021 in Taipei, Taiwan. The design team faced creative and technical challenges, including poor drainage, which was solved by paving the stepped platform with wood panels radially.

The design offers an interactive experience. Visitors can observe and be observed through the white metal bars, glass, and mirror, helping them understand the nature of objects. A white steel ladder connects the courtyard with the rooftop, offering a broad view and a relaxing space surrounded by greenery.

Millton Yu's design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is bestowed upon outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that demonstrate experience and resourcefulness. It recognizes designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, exhibit strong technical and creative skills, and contribute to quality of life improvements.
