Shuimolanting: A Unique Blend of Tradition and Innovation

Zhoumin Wei's Award-Winning Sales Center Design

Zhoumin Wei's Shuimolanting, a sales center design, is a unique blend of traditional Chinese culture and modern aesthetics. The design, inspired by the picturesque environment of ink paintings, creates a luxurious visual impact while subtly expressing the elegance of oriental culture.

Shuimolanting, a term that signifies a beautiful place for books, is the embodiment of Wei's understanding of China's cultural revival and decent way of life. The design stands out for its seamless integration of contemporary Chinese ink paintings and western expressions. The keynote of the design is thick ink, heavy color, and natural white spaces, creating a luxurious visual impact. The top surface processing is seamless, showcasing the extraordinary in the ordinary.

The sales center is constructed using Omega grey marble, wood veneer, Vienna grey marble, and stainless steel. The net space size of the sales department is extensive, with practical beige marble and a top made of imported imitation wood technology veneer. This choice of materials not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also ensures environmental friendliness and convenience in construction.

Shuimolanting is more than just a sales exhibition space. It is an experience that allows visitors to feel as if their future home is as wonderful as a paradise. The design aims to appeal to people of different ages by subtly expressing oriental culture. This approach has proven successful, with houses selling out shortly after the sales center opened.

The design process, which took place from June to August 2019, was not without its challenges. The designer had to find a way to express the effect of ink in a non-straightforward manner using modern materials. The result is a meditative and heartwarming environment that subtly expresses oriental culture.

The design was recognized with the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
