The Jungle Collection stands out due to its contemporary design, vivid colours, and multiple uses. The design process involved a mix of traditional and digital art techniques. The green parts and butterflies were hand-painted using watercolours on a canvas, while the background leaf grid was designed digitally. These elements were then scanned, edited, and combined using Adobe Photoshop, resulting in a balanced design that was digitally printed on reused 400gsm fabrics.
The design's versatility is another of its strengths. The pattern can be modified and scaled according to the size of the item it will be used on, ensuring it won't seem too small on a large piece of furniture and will still be well shown on a small cushion. This adaptability makes the Jungle Collection suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
The design project began in April 2015 in Milan and was completed by August 2015. It was launched in January 2016 at Paris Maison et Objet. During the design process, Solomozis faced the challenge of combining two different concepts - the geometric background and the watercolour drawings - as well as mixing bright colours together without resulting in a busy pattern. He also aimed to create a design that would follow fashion and interior design trends but still be unique and easily recognisable.
Research played a crucial role in the creation of the Jungle Collection. Solomozis studied relevant fabrics available in the market, current and future colour trends, and various types of leaves and insects. He was influenced by Christian Lacroix’s JARDIN EXO'CHIC fabric, which he came across during his internet research.
In conclusion, Ioannis Solomozis' Jungle Collection is a testament to the designer's creativity and commitment to sustainability. The design's unique properties, versatility, and the process of its realization demonstrate Solomozis' ability to blend art and technology in a way that is both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally conscious.
