Designing Modernity and Comfort in Small Spaces

The design concept of Burlington Hotel revolves around achieving modernity and comfort within the constraints of small spaces. The interplay of linearity and harmony is evident throughout the interior, with rounded corners seamlessly connecting the walls and ceilings. This design choice not only creates a stylish atmosphere but also provides a user-friendly and safe environment for guests.

Upon entering the hotel, guests are greeted by a contoured, contrasted marble floor and a curvilinear profiled ceiling adorned with lit acrylic tubes, resembling a starry night sky. The use of curved design elements is consistent throughout the different room types, creating various design approaches in the corridors and reception lobbies.

The Deluxe Rooms feature curved aluminum tubed backdrops, spiral upholstered headboards, and waxy wood veneered wall panels. These linear elements create a rhythmic and harmonious atmosphere, reflecting the vibrant lifestyle of Wan Chai and Hong Kong. The Suite, on the other hand, takes a more subtle and elegant approach with rounded ceilings and curved corners, complemented by handcrafted leather, floral artwork, and helical patterned marble wall backdrops.

Despite the challenges posed by the petite rooms, the design team successfully created a memorable experience for guests at Burlington Hotel. The meticulous attention to detail and the use of curved elements have transformed the limited space into a modern and comfortable retreat.

The Burlington Hotel project, which started in May 2012 and concluded in February 2017, showcases the ingenuity and creativity of Clement Cheng. This design has garnered recognition and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach. The award acknowledges the hotel's ability to meet professional and industrial requirements while providing a fulfilling and positive experience for guests.
