Hong Kong Key: A Dynamic and Innovative Exhibit

Highlighting Hong Kong's Excellence in Infrastructure and the Belt and Road Initiative

In the Belt and Road Summit 2017, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) presented "Hong Kong as an Integrator for Infrastructure Development" through the captivating and interactive exhibit, Hong Kong Key. Designed by Kelvin Chan and his team at HKTDC, this exhibit showcased Hong Kong's excellence in the infrastructure sector and its significance in the Belt and Road Initiative, utilizing modern design and technology.

The inspiration for Hong Kong Key came from the desire to deliver substantial and informative messages in a unique and engaging way. Instead of limiting the display to the ground, Kelvin Chan envisioned utilizing the air space to present the key messages. By doing so, business clients and partners from around the world could experience Hong Kong's excellence in the infrastructure sector and its significance in the Belt and Road Initiative from a different perspective.

What sets Hong Kong Key apart is its strong visual elements and interactive features. The exhibit features three sets of huge LED panels hanging from the ceiling, each measuring 3500mm in width and 2500mm in height. Additionally, six sets of 3D lightbox color lettering are suspended from the ceiling, creating a dynamic and energetic atmosphere. To further enhance the interactive experience, two sets of 50-inch multi-touch screen tables were incorporated to present messages in an engaging and informative manner.

The Signature Display, with its raw space of 63sqm, was the featured area of the Belt and Road Summit 2017. The concept behind the display was inspired by the idea of "going beyond boundaries and exploring new opportunities - Hong Kong is your choice." Floating objects and interactive stations were strategically placed to maximize ground space for traffic while providing eye-catching visuals and interactions. This allowed participants to smoothly and efficiently receive the highlights of key themes.

The Belt and Road Summit 2017 took place in September 2017 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event attracted over 40 international speakers, 3,000 government officials, and business leaders from various countries and regions. More than 30 organizations representing the sectors of banking and financial services, infrastructure development, and professional services showcased their strengths and investment opportunities. With the support of over 190 organizations, the Summit brought together stakeholders, journalists, and the press to discuss and explore the potential of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Despite the challenge of limited space, Kelvin Chan and his team successfully captured the attention of hundreds of visitors and delivered substantial information in a short amount of time. The Hong Kong Key exhibit effectively showcased Hong Kong's excellence in infrastructure and its significance in the Belt and Road Initiative, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.

Hong Kong Key was recognized for its outstanding design and received the Iron A' Design Award in 2018 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. Hong Kong Key's integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its ability to provide fulfillment and positive feelings contribute to a better world.
