Leigh & Orange Limited's Innovative Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Fund Town

Revolutionizing Office and Commercial Spaces with Unique Design and Functionality

The Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Fund Town project was inspired by the existing depot structure, which was originally planned for a low-rise office and commercial development. Leigh & Orange Limited was tasked with redesigning the depot to accommodate the government's new vision for the Qianhai district. The result is a mixed-use development that includes a variety of low-rise building typologies, each designed to suit different office and commercial uses.

The development comprises mid-rise row offices, corporate villas, stand-alone retail pavilions, and a basement retail street. These components are strategically placed within a business park setting, creating various public and landscape spaces of different scales. This alternate indoor and outdoor environment is set to create a new commercial typology for Qianhai, offering a refreshing take on the traditional office and commercial space.

One of the unique features of this project is its location above the existing metro depot. This presented design challenges in terms of connection to the surrounding roads at 0m, resulting in an elevated building interface along the city edge. Leigh & Orange Limited addressed this by redefining pedestrian and vehicular connections and softening the city interface between 0m and 16m.

The project is not just a landscape garden for office and commercial use. It also implements a three-dimensional landscaping system that facilitates a new working lifestyle within the development. This innovative design approach, combined with the project's unique features, earned it the Golden A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2018, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding and trendsetting creations.

Completed in December 2017 in Qianhai Shenzhen, China, the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Fund Town is a testament to Leigh & Orange Limited's commitment to pushing the boundaries of architectural design. With its unique design and functionality, it sets a new standard for office and commercial spaces, not just in Qianhai, but potentially around the world.
