Transforming the Perception of Dental Clinics with Innovative Design

The inspiration behind the design of Clinique ii stemmed from the question, "Why do healthcare spaces have to be cold spaces?" Mistri aimed to reinforce the social and humane side of healthcare facilities, focusing on creating a calm yet inspiring environment. The design of the dental clinic revolves around a thorough research on workflow, primary functions of each space, and the basic knowledge of medical equipment placement.

The realization of the design involved a visual guideline established via wooden slats and LED profile lights in the ceiling. The tools and equipment are smartly organised in the wall storage units, keeping the space crisp and clean. The utility counters are fabricated in yellow solid acrylic surface and the sinks are carved out from the same. The overall space is tied in perfect sync with functionality, workflow, aesthetics, and durability.

Despite the challenge of accommodating a substantially larger space requirement in a small area, the design managed to incorporate a reception with a waiting area for ten to twelve patients, a doctor's cabin, three dental chairs along with its individual equipment and services, and ample and organised storage for tools and equipment. The design goal was to make the treatment process positive for the patient and also improve workflow to increase staff efficiency.

The project started in April 2016 and finished in December 2016 in Khopoli, India. The design of Clinique ii has been recognized for its innovative approach to healthcare spaces, winning the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation.

With Clinique ii, Rahul Mistri has successfully transformed the perception of dental clinics, creating a space that is not only functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also comforting and inviting. It stands as a testament to the power of design in influencing our experiences and perceptions, even in the most unexpected of places.
