The 8500 square feet restaurant, located in a shopping mall, showcases a design inspired by the orchid, the national flower of Singapore. The orchid, celebrated for its beauty and symbolizing nobility and refinement in Chinese culture, sets the tone for the restaurant's ambiance.
The design incorporates natural materials such as light travertine for the walls, nero marquina marble, and natural stone. Soft furnishings like custom carpet flooring, printed fabric walls, and curtains soften the overall atmosphere, creating a warm and inviting space.
The restaurant features different seating arrangements and settings, providing visitors with a variety of options and breaking the monotony. The general dining area includes revolving panels for added flexibility, while the seven VIP rooms are equipped with collapsible dividers, accommodating both small and large parties.
Despite the challenge of no access to direct sunlight within the unit, the design team managed to create a sense of spaciousness by incorporating wall features that replicate window panels. This clever solution enhances the overall dining experience.
The Jumbo Seafood restaurant in Shanghai opened its doors in November 2017, after a successful design project that started in September 2017. With a capacity to accommodate 140 guests in the general dining area and 72 in the VIP rooms, the restaurant offers an intimate and exclusive setting for diners.
This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2018. This prestigious award honors designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
