Aiji Inoue's inspiration for Il Mare came from the sea, with elements such as waves and ships subtly incorporated into the design. The use of modern tiles and antique woods creates a casual atmosphere that is both inviting and sophisticated. The design is a harmonious blend of atmosphere and detail, making it difficult to distinguish which came first.
What sets Il Mare apart is its unique "cut-and-paste-able design" concept. This innovative approach allows for the creation of a multi-restaurant operation, using versatile design elements that can be easily adapted to different settings. For example, a stand-light integrated into the big table works just as well on its own, demonstrating the flexibility of the design.
The realization of Il Mare's design was a meticulous process that focused on creating an urban atmosphere with upgraded values. The use of materials and technical styles were carefully considered to create a cohesive design that perfectly balances atmosphere and detail. The result is a bar restaurant that offers a unique dining experience.
Il Mare's design specifications include a big table measuring W3000 mm x D1150 mm x H1000 mm and custom-made chairs measuring W530 mm x D545 mm x H780 mm. The design also features custom-made pendant lights and furniture, contributing to the overall aesthetic of the restaurant.
The design process for Il Mare began in April 2016 in Yokohama, Japan, and was completed in November 2016. Since then, three more restaurants have been designed using the "cut-and-paste-able design" concept, proving its effectiveness and versatility.
In conclusion, Il Mare's innovative design concept, coupled with Aiji Inoue's meticulous attention to detail, has resulted in a unique bar restaurant that is not only visually appealing but also functional. The "cut-and-paste-able design" concept has proven to be a game-changer in the restaurant industry, paving the way for more multi-restaurant operations in the future.
