Pibu Pibu: Innovative Eco-Friendly Package Design

An Eco-Friendly Solution for Customizable Bath and Beauty Products

Customization has become a growing trend within the brand identity, and PIBU PIBU wanted to showcase the possibilities of customization within their products. Inspired by the clock rabbit from the classic "Alice's Adventure in Wonderland," the brand's character rabbit became the inspiration for the book cover themed design on both bottles and ampoules. Each ampoule is connected to a classic novel, such as the detox ampoule illustrating the Three Little Pig's brick house, representing the detoxification function of the ampoule with a protective brick wall. The paper case for the product mimics the motion of opening a book, with its design inspired by a school lunch tray to help customers understand the system of PIBU PIBU.

What sets PIBU PIBU apart is their commitment to eco-friendly packaging. In response to their request for an environmentally friendly packaging solution, a fully recyclable paper package was created. The design of the package focuses on identification and representation, with the surface allowing for easy recognition of the brand image. The shape of the bottle, pump, and two ampoules visually communicates the unique system of PIBU PIBU. The choice of materials for the package reflects the brand's philosophy of using natural products inside and out.

The package design presented several challenges, particularly in finding a material that would be both eco-friendly and capable of protecting and holding the heavy product. The team overcame this challenge by carefully selecting paper as the main material, ensuring that it fulfilled the requirements of an eco-friendly package while still providing the necessary functionality.

PIBU PIBU's package design not only captures the essence of the brand but also enhances the overall customer experience. The design allows for easy identification and understanding of the unique system, while the eco-friendly packaging aligns with the brand's commitment to natural and effective bath products.

This innovative package design by Young-Eon Kim has been recognized for its excellence. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019, a prestigious accolade that celebrates outstanding and creatively ingenious designs. The award recognizes designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
