Line Box: A Convenient and Efficient Sewing Thread Storage Solution

A Compact and Innovative Design by Chunfeng Lin and Jingchao Peng

Introduction

In the world of tailoring, organization and efficiency are key. However, traditional storage solutions for sewing tools often fall short, with fragmented and bulky designs that make it difficult to find and carry essential items. Enter Line Box, a revolutionary sewing thread storage solution designed by Chunfeng Lin and Jingchao Peng. This compact and innovative design combines the functionality of a coil and a storage box, providing a simple yet effective way to manage and store needles and threads while optimizing space utilization.

Line Box features a unique mini drawer-like structure that allows users to easily access the tools they need. The shell and storage box are made from durable ABS material, achieved through an injection molding process. The sewing thread is neatly wound on the plastic shell using a fully automatic thread winding device, ensuring a tidy and organized storage solution.

With dimensions of 45mm in width, 45mm in depth, and 140mm in height, Line Box is compact and portable, making it convenient to carry and use for tailoring projects on the go.

Not only does Line Box provide a practical storage solution, but it also offers a time-saving feature. By placing the thread head between the shell and the box, users can easily locate the thread head for quick access in future projects.

Chunfeng Lin and Jingchao Peng's design process involved extensive research and understanding of user needs. They discovered that many households had fragmented and excessive tailoring tools, leading to a lack of organization and efficiency. In response, Line Box was created to address these issues, offering a compact and efficient solution for managing needles and threads.

Line Box was completed in Guangzhou in August 2017 and has since gained recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Art and Stationery Supplies Design category in 2019. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life.

With Line Box, Chunfeng Lin and Jingchao Peng have not only provided a practical solution for organizing sewing tools but have also shown how a simple daily necessity can reflect care and consideration for women. By improving space utilization and streamlining the workflow, Line Box contributes to a more efficient and enjoyable tailoring experience.
