Concentric Watch: A Unique Piece of Minimal Art on Your Wrist

Maximum Individuality and Uniqueness

Inspired by the works of minimal art pioneers such as Max Bill, Bridget Riley, and Frank Stella, the Concentric Watch, designed by Daniel Schulthess, is a true masterpiece of individuality and uniqueness. Each watch dial is a one-of-a-kind piece of minimal art, representing the personal ideals and visions of its owner. With the slogan "Follow your Vision!", this watch serves as a constant reminder of what we are living for.

What sets the Concentric Watch apart from other timepieces is its maximum individuality. Every watch is different, making it a truly unique accessory. Schulthess's innovative approach challenges the norm of mass-produced items and paves the way for a new era of singular products. By utilizing new techniques, such as computer-aided design and modern printing technology, Schulthess creates watches that exist only once. This concept extends beyond watches to other products like clothes, mugs, carpets, curtains, plates, and bowls, where each item is a one-of-a-kind creation.

The realization of the Concentric Watch involves a meticulous process. Schulthess uses his own specially programmed software, the "Random Art Generator," to create the dial graphics. From hundreds of different random results, he selects a design that becomes the basis for further editing. The final works are printed on high-resolution Kodak Ektachrome Metallic paper and punched out. A skilled watchmaker then assembles the dial into a stainless steel case, incorporating a Swiss-made ETA 2824 automatic movement and a sapphire crystal. The watch is completed with a high-quality colored watchband in either rubber or leather.

The technical specifications of the Concentric Watch are as follows: a 41mm stainless steel case, sapphire glass, and a Swiss-made ETA 2824 automatic movement. The dial is a high-resolution Kodak Ektachrome photo print, showcasing the intricate and unique design.

Since its inception in 2014, the Concentric Watch has been a testament to Schulthess's dedication to creating truly exceptional timepieces. The design project took place in Basel, Switzerland, and has since garnered attention in shops, online platforms, and exhibitions. The challenges faced during the development of the watch were overcome by working with different print studios and watchmaker companies. Ultimately, Schulthess decided to produce the dials himself, using professional photo prints to achieve the desired high resolution and uniqueness.

With each Concentric Watch being a work of art in itself, this timepiece represents a new era of mass-produced products. By combining the power of computers and advanced printing technology, Schulthess has created a watch that is not only functional but also a personal statement. The Concentric Watch is a symbol of individuality, reminding us to follow our visions and live our lives to the fullest.
