Quin Design Smart Helmet: Revolutionizing Motorcycle Safety

A Modern Update to the Classic Motorcycle Helmet

Motorcycle safety is a paramount concern for riders worldwide. With the aim of revolutionizing motorcycle safety, designer Anirudha Surabhi has created the Quin Design Smart Helmet. This innovative helmet combines cutting-edge technology with a classic exterior, providing riders with a holistic approach to safety on the road.

Traditional helmets protect riders during a crash, but the Quin Design Smart Helmet goes beyond that. It offers safety systems for riders both before and after a crash, addressing the on-the-move needs of motorcyclists. Surabhi's inspiration for this design came from the alarming statistic that 50 percent of road accident fatalities can be prevented by getting people to the hospital within one hour of a crash. By focusing on a life before, during, and after a crash, Quin Design Helmets aims to provide a holistic response to road safety.

What sets the Quin Design Smart Helmet apart from other helmets on the market is its proprietary IntelliQuinTM technology. This technology delivers a range of smart features, including an integrated crash detection and alert system. This system detects a crash and immediately sends an alert to emergency contacts, ensuring that help arrives as quickly as possible. Additionally, the helmet features an SOS beacon and response system, providing riders with an extra layer of safety and peace of mind.

One of the key strengths of the Quin Design Smart Helmet is its lightweight construction. Weighing just 2,270g, it is the lightest smart helmet in the world and one of the lightest helmets in its category. The shell is constructed from carbon kevlar and fiberglass resin, with a polystyrene lining for added protection. The helmet comes in three sizes to ensure a comfortable fit for every rider.

Operating the Quin Design Smart Helmet is simple and user-friendly. After pairing the helmet with a smartphone, the main crash detection feature becomes automatic, requiring no user action. Additional Bluetooth features for connectivity or entertainment can be managed from an ergonomically positioned control pad. The seamless integration of technology ensures that it does not interfere with the safety or comfort of the rider.

The Quin Design Smart Helmet project began in April 2017 and, by January 2018, several finished prototypes were ready for testing and demonstration. The helmets made their first public debut in October at various international motorcycle expos. The design team, led by Anirudha Surabhi, utilized injection molding machines and cadex helmet testing machines to ensure the functionality and performance of the helmet. Aramid carbon fiber laying was also employed in the manufacturing process.

Recognizing the groundbreaking nature of the Quin Design Smart Helmet, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Safety Clothing and Personal Protective Equipment Design category in 2019. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

The Quin Design Smart Helmet is not only a practical new standard for essential safety but also a testament to the power of innovation and technology in improving the lives of motorcycle riders. With its seamless integration of smart features and classic design, it is set to revolutionize motorcycle safety and provide riders with the ultimate protection on the road.
