The design of this residential house stands out due to its unique features. The wood battens, connecting the floor and ceiling, are furnished alongside the entryway, creating linear features that retain a sense of diaphaneity. The wood ceiling subtly implies the traffic flows within the space. The kitchen, located in the corner space, adjoins the dining room. The wood dining table and blue wall surfaces in the dining area contrast with the brick wall in the living room, creating a delightful dining ambiance.
The design team paid special attention to the health and safety of the occupants, particularly children. They prioritized creating a low formaldehyde house by extensively using EGGER cabinets, known for their low formaldehyde emissions. The wear-resistant laminate table in the kitchen perfectly balances unique style, practicality, and material safety.
This residential house spans 82 square meters and was completed in January 2018 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The design team faced challenges in transforming the closed layout and ensuring a healthy living environment. However, their innovative approach and attention to detail resulted in a successful renovation that brings the American lifestyle to this home.
This design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, and contributing to a better world.
