Natede: Revolutionizing Air Purification with Nature and Technology

Vincenzo Vitiello's Natede, an IoT-Ready Natural Air Purifier, Wins Silver A' Design Award

Combining nature, technology, and design, Vincenzo Vitiello's Natede revolutionizes air purification. This IoT-ready, natural air purifier, awarded the Silver A' Design Award, is a testament to sustainable, innovative design.

The inspiration behind Natede stems from the concept of phytoremediation, a process that amplifies the natural air purification power of plant roots. This technology, studied by NASA in the '80s, was implemented by Laboratori Fabrici after three years of research at PNAT and LINV, two of the world's leading laboratories on plant neurobiology.

What sets Natede apart is its unique properties. As the first IoT-ready, natural air purifier, it features an advanced photocatalytic filter that eliminates viruses, bacteria, and significantly reduces odors. Moreover, it is respectful to the environment in multiple ways: it uses natural materials, avoids harmful glues, and can be sustainably dismantled at the end of its lifecycle.

The realization of Natede is rooted in the concept of "Circular Design Economy", a sustainable design approach that minimizes environmental impact. It is equipped with the most advanced sensors and a new photocatalytic filter that doesn't need to be replaced, eliminating waste and extra expenses. Natede successfully eliminates 93% of VOCs, 99% of bacteria, viruses, fine-particulate, and odors.

Interacting with Natede is straightforward. It features a proximity sensor that allows users to turn it on and off by simply moving their hand close to it. An intuitive LED guide shows the air quality without needing to check the app. The dedicated app allows users to monitor air pollutants and control the air flow in their space in real time. Natede can even connect to other smart home devices.

The design of Natede was a challenge as it aimed to give a new identity to air purifiers. The goal was to deconstruct the archetype through a new identity of the object: a conjunction between Nature, Technology, and Design. The project started in October 2017, was pre-launched in April 2018, and officially launched in April 2019.

With three pending patents in 2018, Natede is a testament to the innovative and sustainable design that is reshaping the future of home appliances. Its award of Silver in A' Home Appliances Design Award in 2019 is a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
