For years, the design of cars has been largely dictated by the human figure. The need to accommodate a driver and ensure their safety has placed certain limitations on how cars can be designed and how fast they can go. But what if these constraints were removed? What if cars could be designed without the need for a human driver? This is the question that Fertonani asked himself, and the N.01 is his answer.
The N.01 is a concept car designed for autonomous racing or remote piloting. Its design is aggressive yet minimalistic, with a low profile enhanced by in-wheel electric motors. The absence of a pilot has given Fertonani the freedom to play with shapes and automotive architecture, resulting in a vehicle that is as visually striking as it is innovative.
The car's architecture is simple yet revolutionary, made possible by advancements in electric and autonomous technologies. Its body is made from carbon fiber, covering the mechanics in a clean and essential way. The design is rational and functional, emphasizing what lies beneath. The car's dimensions are 1800mm in width and 4100mm in depth.
The N.01 is more than just a concept car; it represents a vision for the future of racing. With no need for a human pilot, races can become more extreme, opening up new challenges and possibilities. The car can be fully autonomous or remotely piloted, offering flexibility and adaptability.
The design of the N.01 was inspired by the concept of a 'bed sheet covering', where objects are covered by a sheet, resulting in shapes that are rational and functional. Every line and volume of the N.01 has a purpose, leading to a clean and iconic design. The project has been ongoing since November 2017 and is based in Sao Jose do Rio Preto-SP, Brazil.
The N.01 has already been recognized for its innovative design, winning the Silver A' Futuristic Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, and the N.01 certainly fits the bill. With its unique design and groundbreaking concept, the N.01 is a glimpse into the future of racing.
