Contiguity - Borderline: A Tranquil and Efficient Office Design

Creating a Harmonious Space for Work and Reception

The Contiguity - Borderline design by Shih Yun Lung is a unique and innovative two-storey office space that seamlessly combines functionality and aesthetics. With its plain yet elegant decoration materials and skillful indoor layouts, this design stands out as a harmonious and efficient workspace.

The reception area, located on the first floor, sets the tone for the entire office. The elegant wood grain floors and composed brick walls create a tranquil and warm atmosphere, while the graceful furniture and chairs, alongside the verdant arbor and green wall, bring a touch of natural energy to the space.

What sets the Contiguity - Borderline design apart is its focus on efficient space utilization. Rather than proposing complex design ideas, Shih Yun Lung opted for plain decoration materials and furniture that skillfully contain diverse styles within the same space. The result is a regulated and efficient office environment that promotes productivity and creativity.

The extensive floor at the entrance reconciles both functional and visual features, while the rear side reception area, adorned with an exquisite table and gray walls, exudes an austere aura. The folding screen, which cordially conceals the office kitchen, and the undulating ceilings creatively evoke the air of natural landscapes.

The working area and staff lounge on the second floor serve as the heart of the office. The working area, decorated with woods and frosted glass, creates an appealing plane, while the white polished tiles in the working area foster a light LOFT ambience. The island desks delineate traffic flows, and the peculiar staff lounge features an ancient treasure chest transformed into a coffee table, with a calming blue wall surface diffusing an alluring charm.

The Contiguity - Borderline design was completed in May 2018 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Throughout the design process, Shih Yun Lung focused on creating a space that transcends traditional boundaries and identities. The antique Chinese armchairs, for example, evoke oriental fantasies, while the styles transitioning in divergent combinations surpass the borderlines of space identities.

This innovative office design has been recognized for its excellence and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, technical skill, and resourcefulness, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
