Robin Wang's Poly Spring: A Minimalist Utopia in the City

Unveiling the Award-Winning Reception Design Inspired by Traditional Chinese Philosophy

In a world where complexity often reigns, Robin Wang's Poly Spring project stands as a testament to the power of simplicity. This award-winning reception design, inspired by traditional Chinese philosophy and aesthetics, is a pure white utopia nestled within the city's hustle and bustle.

Robin Wang's design inspiration stems from the purity pursued by traditional Chinese philosophy and aesthetics, which aligns with the use of simplicity in modernism. In the Poly Spring project, Wang uses the simplest design language to preserve the space's purity, creating a minimalist yet impactful design.

The unique properties of the Poly Spring project lie in its transformation into a city living room. Wang's design replaces the walls that once blocked the line of sight with a high-permeable glass curtain wall of 4 meters, creating an unbounded state between the indoor and outdoor areas. The space is minimally decorated, with a small amount of furniture combined into a casual living room, creating a comfortable living atmosphere in the sales space.

Realized with Marble, Kohler, and TOTO, the design specifications of the Poly Spring project are impressive. The high permeability thermal insulation glass curtain wall, up to 4 meters, has replaced the wall surface that obstructed the line of sight in the past. This surrounds the whole building, forming an unbounded state indoors and outdoors.

The Poly Spring project was a collaborative effort, with team members Joe Lu, Yanting Liang, Lieen Lu, Melanie Wu, Ming Jun, Shuxi Zhang, and Xiuming Situ contributing to its realization. The project started in January 2018 and finished in July 2018 in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province.

Robin Wang's Poly Spring project faced the challenge of maintaining the open space and the overall visual unity. However, the designer's experience, the client's investment and attention, the responsibility and cooperation of the construction team, and the detailed degree of construction drawings all contributed to overcoming this challenge.

Robin Wang's Poly Spring project was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is rewarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
