Unveiling a Unique Design Concept that Mirrors the Beauty of Hair

The design's unique properties lie in its representation of the bright, aerial, gracious way in which hair flows. The metallic waves are intricately woven into a white matrix of geometric patterns, producing a mystical luminous crystal. The light reflected off the metal waves and penetrating the white lattice produces intricate and constantly evolving expressions throughout the space. This layered structure is perceived differently depending on the viewer's relative position and line of sight, creating an ever-changing atmosphere.

The realization of this design concept required a careful play with the configuration of the white lattice and metal wave compound according to each area. The design team increased the circumvolutions in the metal waves acting as reflectors inside the hair cutting area where natural light comes in the most. This approach ensured that minute shifts in natural light can be felt throughout the day and the seasons, and the evolving landscape appreciated to the fullest.

The design also features a unique approach to color. Variations in the purple and powdery silver color gradation on the walls surrounding the shampooing area confer the sparkle of life to the space. This color scheme complements the white lattice and metal wave structure, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the salon.

The design project, located in Kanagawa, Japan, covers a total area of 120 sqm. The design team, led by Moriyuki Ochiai, faced the creative challenge of honoring the beauty of hair and replicating the spatial experience of penetrating into its mysterious radiance and profound depth. The solution was found in the repeated entwinement of layers of lattice and metal.

Crystalscape is not just a beauty salon; it is a testament to the beauty of hair and the creativity of design. The project was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation. The design is a remarkable level of excellence that introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
