Revolutionizing Home Bars: The Drinks Cabinet by Irena Kilibarda

A Blend of Functionality and Aesthetics in a Modern Drinks Cabinet

Combining practicality and style, Irena Kilibarda's Drinks Cabinet is a testament to innovative design. The piece, which won the Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2019, is a modern take on the traditional drinks cabinet, offering a unique blend of form and function.

The Drinks Cabinet draws inspiration from traditional wooden cabinets, often used in kitchens for storage. The design, however, takes this concept to a new level, incorporating modern materials and technology. The Corian DuPont white area, which serves as the worktop, is antibacterial and water-resistant, making the cabinet easy to maintain. Additionally, LED lights add a touch of class, highlighting the glasses and bottles stored within.

What sets the Drinks Cabinet apart from other designs is its unique properties. The use of white Corian DuPont material not only ensures durability and practicality but also adds an eco-friendly element to the design. The wine fridge features easy access ventilation and a temperature control system, while sensor LED lighting illuminates the interior, showcasing the gleaming glasses and bottles in the best light.

The Drinks Cabinet is crafted with solid oak shelving and oak veneered sides, along with a white Corian DuPont worktop. The wine fridge ensures your favorite bottles are well-cared for, with easy access ventilation and temperature control. The LED lighting is a stylish bonus that lights up all the bottles and glassware on the shelves.

Technical specifications of the Drinks Cabinet include outside product dimensions of 900mm x 900mm x 2200mm. The wooden doors with shelving are 200mm wide, providing ample space for any type of glass to hang. Solid oak wood shelves are designed to hold the glasses in place when the door opens or closes. The 3D form of these shelves is achieved by CNC milling.

The Drinks Cabinet is not just about aesthetics and functionality. It also offers mobility, with the option to put it on wheels. When not in use, it can be closed up to save space, transforming into a sleek, unassuming cabinet with a boozy surprise inside. The design project, which started in September 2018, was completed by the beginning of November 2018.

Despite the challenges in achieving stability due to the weight of the wooden doors and shelving system, the design team managed to overcome this by optimizing the size proportions of the cabinet. The addition of wheels further enhanced its mobility. The result is a drinks cabinet that is not just a piece of furniture, but a statement of style and innovation.
