In response to the female house owner’s needs, one of the rooms has been transformed into a master bedroom with a dressing room, adding a touch of luxury and functionality to the design. The space spans 198 square meters and is located in Hsinchu City, Taiwan.

The design of the residence revolves around the concept of maximizing natural light. The dining room, situated in the center of the indoor area, creates a seamless and circular flow throughout the space. The private areas are strategically placed at the back, ensuring a clear separation between dynamic and static spaces.

The foyer, located at the entrance, features a deliberately compressed ceiling height and a shoe cabinet with matching wood patterns, creating a strong visual impact. Dark colors are used to contrast with the bright and lively atmosphere of the open-style public area.

The living room emphasizes transparency, with a television wall made of slant-cut marble that extends to the floor, creating a visually stunning focal point. The combination of white, grey, and dark grey tones, along with the Hinoki-surrounded sofa back wall, adds depth and character to the space. The use of Hinoki also fills the public area with a natural fragrance.

The kitchen, with its integrated lighting, white countertop, and dark-colored cabinets, exudes elegance and quality. The semi-open design adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the space.

This design project by Shih-Kai Chen successfully overcame creative and technical challenges to create a harmonious and functional living space. The use of cutting-edge design methods throughout the residence ensures consistency and a cohesive aesthetic.

The Elegant & Quality Residence was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach. This prestigious award recognizes designs that meet professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.
