Encouraging Sustainable and Efficient Urban Transportation

In response to the challenges posed by urbanization, designer Xiting Zhao and the team at Shenyang Ligong University have developed a groundbreaking solution - the Aerobic Commuter Train. This innovative design aims to encourage citizens to use low-pollution and low-energy vehicles, creating a more sustainable and efficient urban transportation system.

The Aerobic Commuter Train operates on a unique sharing model. After paying a deposit, users can easily locate the vehicle using their mobile phones. Equipped with L4 and above autonomous driving technology, the driverless train optimizes its route using stereo vision and GPS, ensuring the shortest travel time to the destination.

One of the key strengths of the Aerobic Commuter Train is its environmental friendliness. The design incorporates an advanced energy system that effectively oxidizes or reduces CO, HC, and NOx emissions, resulting in non-toxic CO2, H2O, and NOx. By utilizing green travel technology, this commuter train contributes to reducing air pollution and protecting the environment.

The design of the Aerobic Commuter Train also prioritizes flexibility and convenience. The carriages are malleable, providing options for single or double journeys. Users can choose to travel alone or share the train with others, depending on their preferences and needs. This adaptability makes the train suitable for both personal use and rail transit when traffic conditions allow.

Overcoming the challenges of urbanization, the Aerobic Commuter Train offers a high-tech and convenient travel experience. The interior design maximizes passenger space by removing the traditional steering wheel display, creating a more spacious and comfortable environment for commuters.

Completed in December 2018 at Shenyang Ligong University, this design is a testament to the team's dedication to improving urban transportation and addressing the pressing issue of air pollution. The research conducted by the team highlights the need for sustainable solutions that protect nature, reduce emissions, and enhance human health.

The Aerobic Commuter Train has been recognized for its ingenuity and impact, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate technical excellence, creativity, and a commitment to improving quality of life.
