The Chengdu Panggelia Restaurant was inspired by the need to attract the attention of fashionable young people. The design team, led by Qing Dong and assisted by Yizhou Qian, aimed to create a space that was avant-garde, extreme, and artistic. The result is a restaurant that is not only popular among young people but also stands out for its unique design.
The restaurant's design is characterized by its Pop style, which uses graphical forms of expression to create exaggerated, visually striking images. Stainless steel, with its high plasticity and lustrous texture, is used extensively in the interior design, creating a wide field of vision. Paired with gorgeous lighting, the design exudes a fashionable street style. Elements such as skateboards, neon lights, laser-carved targets, and glass add a playful, game-like characteristic to the space.
The restaurant covers a total of 300 square meters, with yellow tape interspersed throughout the space, giving it the feel of a fashion clothing store. The design team injected street fashion design into innovative ideas, infusing the restaurant with personality and vitality. The Pang Pang doll at the restaurant entrance, designed as a limited number of fashion art toys, adds a visual effect and a touch of the times.
The project, which started in May 2018 in Chengdu and finished in July 2018, faced the challenge of making the most of the large space. The design team abandoned the hierarchical division of partition and instead used lighting and space structure to create a fashionable and pluralistic permeable space. The relaxed and fashionable atmosphere of the restaurant makes diners linger and forget to return, satisfying the public's consumption psychology of pursuing freshness, personality, and fashion.
The design of Chengdu Panggelia Restaurant is a testament to the power of innovative design in creating spaces that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. It is a shining example of how art, design, and architecture can come together to create unique experiences. The restaurant's success and its recognition with the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019 are a testament to the talent and vision of its design team.
