The Torino Outlet Village is a 32,000 sqm street-level, open-air development that exudes a sense of modernity and classic elegance. Clad in natural stone and lime plaster, the building's assertive horizontality captures the attention of visitors, while its configuration and proportions create a harmonious and visually pleasing environment.
One of the unique features of this design is the 290-meter-long shopping promenade, flanked by an arcade that seems to extend into infinity. This captivating feature, adorned with a regular trail of trees, invites visitors to immerse themselves in the open-air experience. The ceilings, reaching up to 6 meters in height, further enhance the sense of spaciousness and grandeur.
When it comes to materials, Claudio Silvestrin has chosen carefully to ensure a seamless integration with the surrounding environment. The building features a metal structure panelled with metal sheets, finished with a pearl varnish. The floorings are made of Santafiora stone, a 15-million-year-old sandstone, with a piano sega limaia finish. The facades, partition walls, and internal walls are covered in lime plaster, giving the building an earthy and natural appearance.
Energy efficiency is also a key consideration in this design. The Torino Outlet Village incorporates heat network units to curb energy consumption and reduce environmental impact. Waste heat recycling from a nearby electrical plant is utilized, and solar panels cover 50% of the hot water supply for food and drink areas. The air and moisture conditioning system, known as the 'water ring' plus heat pump system, ensures optimal temperature control throughout the year with minimal energy consumption.
With 90 commercial units and parking space for 2,600 vehicles, the Torino Outlet Village offers a seamless and convenient shopping experience. However, what sets it apart is its focus on the visitor. Claudio Silvestrin intentionally designed the building to be understated, allowing the visitor to take center stage. The architecture and spatial quality of the space aim to provide contemporary psychological comfort, encouraging visitors to spend more time and make purchases. The sense of ease and comfort experienced in this place of quality creates a desire to return.
The Torino Outlet Village project began in 2009, with the building site opening in August 2015. The project was completed in March 2017, showcasing Claudio Silvestrin's dedication to creating a timeless and exceptional retail experience. This design has received numerous accolades, including the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019, recognizing its outstanding creativity and contribution to quality of life improvements.
With its minimalist and elegant design, the Torino Outlet Village stands as a testament to Claudio Silvestrin's architectural prowess. It is a place where fashion, art, and design converge, offering visitors a unique and unforgettable retail experience.
