Inspired by the processes of design and manufacturing, the Bridge DNA coffee table seeks to discover and develop the different characteristics of bridge structures and materials. Hung Yuan Chang's research focused on embedding bridge structure forms into furniture design, creating a bare structure that can be appreciated for its simplicity and beauty, much like a bridge.

The main structure of the coffee table is positioned horizontally in a cross form, providing stability and strength. The tabletop, in a diamond shape, rests on the main structure, adding a touch of elegance to the design. A triangular matrix serves as the vertical structure, further enhancing the visual appeal of the table.

Made from maple and walnut, the Bridge DNA coffee table showcases the natural beauty of wood. The use of brass accents adds a touch of sophistication and complements the overall design. The combination of these materials creates a harmonious and visually striking piece of furniture.

Measuring 46cm in height, 180cm in width, and 50cm in depth, the coffee table is designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Its unique structure and lightweight construction make it a versatile addition to any living space.

The Bridge DNA coffee table was conceptualized in 2016 in Rochester and completed in 2018 in Palo Alto. Throughout the design process, Hung Yuan Chang faced the challenge of adapting the fixed and planar geometry of bridge structures to a movable piece of furniture. By turning the structure upside down and transforming the ground into the tabletop, the designer successfully merged the worlds of bridges and furniture.

Recognized for its innovative design, the Bridge DNA coffee table was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019. This prestigious accolade is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
