Figure Movement: A Dance of Art and Architecture

Xin Shi Wang's Award-Winning Exhibition Space Merges Art and Movement

The Figure Movement art exhibition, designed by Xin Shi Wang, is a unique blend of art and architecture, embodying the rhythm of body movement and the character's inner world in drama. This innovative design has been awarded the Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019.

Figure Movement is an art exhibition that explores the concept of body movement as a disciplined and ruled act. The name itself is a testament to this, with 'Figure' representing the body and 'Movement' the skill. The exhibition is a testament to the consolidation of spirit and body, aiming to demonstrate the rhythm of body movement.

The unique property of this design lies in its embodiment of dance and drama. Every body movement in drama stems from the character's inner world and is expressed through figure movements that articulate the character's mind and emotion. The exhibition space, therefore, serves as a static display of this dynamic art, increasing the interaction value for visitors.

The realization of this design is a testament to Xin Shi Wang's innovative approach. The exhibition space, spanning 670 square meters, features flat dynamic movements, a symmetrical exhibition space, an artwork guide area, and an outdoor landscape designed in vertical scale. The ceiling, decorated with a water ripple metal plate, artistically resembles the scene of heavy rain, adding another layer of interaction and immersion for the visitors.

The design process was not without its challenges. The exhibition space had to present static artworks while showing the records of lights, shades, seas, and time. It also had to present the dynamic process that deliberates the artists' minds, affections, implications, and reflections by displaying the shapes. However, Xin Shi Wang's innovative approach and dedication to the project ensured its successful realization.

Figure Movement is more than just an art exhibition; it's a journey that engages all the senses. As Xin Shi Wang puts it, "Life could be an unedited movie, however, we can pause anytime. The art, therefore, preserves the evidence for this moment." This innovative design project, completed in May 2018 in Shenzhen, China, is a testament to Xin Shi Wang's ability to merge art, architecture, and movement into a cohesive and engaging experience.

The Figure Movement art exhibition is a shining example of innovation and creativity in the field of design. Its unique blend of art and architecture, coupled with its engaging and immersive design, makes it a deserving winner of the Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019.
