Green Asparagus: A Fresh and Playful Packaging Design

Bringing Spring to Your Table

I created asparagus labels that capture the essence of this vibrant vegetable. With their concise yellow color and playful lettering, the new brand creates high visibility, speed, and memory. The design prominently features the words "Green Asparagus," cleverly integrated into a block of exuberant type that conveys a bright and playful image. To add a twist to the classic style, I incorporated linear drawings of growing asparagus, symbolizing the skillful hand behind each step in the cultivation process, from planting to packaging.

For the label design, I opted for digitally printed labels on white paper. A yellow rubber band binds the asparagus bundle, seamlessly blending in with the label. The label design size is 220 mm x 100 mm, perfectly complementing the bundle holding 500 g of asparagus.

Lettering and hand-drawn asparagus illustrations reflect the natural and fresh aspect of the product. Asparagus is not a popular vegetable, so on the label, we decided to provide information on how to store, prepare, and cook them, including a delicious recipe. This way, we aim to educate and inspire customers to try this nutritious and flavorful vegetable.

The design project started in March 2018 and was completed in May 2018 in Vilnius, Lithuania. Throughout the process, our goal was to create packaging for a small farm that would stand apart from other asparagus on the market and easily flow to other products. We conducted research on food packaging and found that while color is common, focusing on one color, in this case, yellow, would give the design a feeling of freshness and appeal to customers interested in healthy nutrition.

The Green Asparagus packaging design, created by Salvita Bingelyte, has been recognized for its creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2019. This prestigious award is bestowed upon outstanding designs that showcase experience, resourcefulness, and best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
