Straightforward Journey: A Carefree Industrial Residential Apartment

Introducing a Unique and Delightful Living Space

The inspiration for this design came from the desire to introduce a relaxed spatial sentiment into the tough styled foundation. The deliberate blank walls between the public and private spaces create a visually relaxed atmosphere. The usage of overlapped functionalities adds flexibility to the living scenes.

What sets this design apart is the elimination of commonly seen residential styles to cater to the specific needs of the homeowners. The space is adorned with a straightforward and carefree industrial trend, refining the living sentiment into exquisite design vocabularies. The result is a comfortable and leisurable residential look.

The realization of this design involves valuing the details of the overall space and preserving the primitiveness of the materials. The original ceiling, with its traces of the building, is kept intact to maintain the building's original look. French windows replace walls, allowing natural light to flood the room. In the bathroom, an iron piece door with iron grids provides visual transparency while ensuring safety and enhancing the industrial trend design theme.

The Straightforward Journey apartment spans 53 square meters, making efficient use of the space to create a functional and visually appealing living environment.

The bedroom in this design features a unique layout. A 45-degree line separates the space, overlapping the room entrance with the bar seating area. The 45-degree straight wall serves as a circulation path for the sliding door, a separating wall for the changing room, and a television wall for the lounge and bedroom. The slanted bed placement allows for additional storage space at the rear end.

This design project was completed on June 15, 2018, in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The design team, led by Yi-Yun Chang, meticulously researched and planned the space to maximize functionality and create a pure and carefree living experience.

The Straightforward Journey design has received recognition for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that showcase technical and creative skills while contributing to quality of life improvements.
