From East: A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

Uplan Design's Award-Winning Window Design Project

The inspiration for "From East" comes from the unique characteristics of Chinese culture, particularly the easily noticed symbols of dragons, phoenixes, cymbals, and cranes. These ancient gods and auspicious symbols have been refined through creative methods and perfectly grafted with window design and fashion culture. This fusion of tradition and modernity is what sets the project apart.

The project is placed in the main display surface and side display surface of a commercial building passageway. The different positions of the window design have been given different themes - "Inclusiveness", "origin", "promotion", and "collection". These themes not only have a logical relationship based on customers' moving lines but also fully express the important theme of Chinese culture.

To fully present the advantages of these images, EVA materials were used as the main material in the creation process. Uplan Design invited partners to improve the material technology, ensuring the best choices for the design of modern window design were made. The project covers a total of 40 square meters, with the overall color being obvious yet not low, reflecting the characteristic of Chinese traditional art's application of color.

The complexity of the work lies in the details. Dragon scales, Phoenix wings, crane feathers - each shape has countless details. The size, bending angle and radian, positions and distances between them, and the logic of overlapping all need to be completed step by step according to the details. This meticulous attention to detail is a testament to Uplan Design's commitment to excellence.

"From East" started in June 2019 in Shanghai and was completed in July 2019. The project reflects the influence of the East on the world, with mythological fables, classics of ancient books, inventions and creations, and technological innovations all presenting themselves in the design. The project was awarded Golden in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, a testament to its outstanding design and trendsetting creation.
