Bubble Forest: A Fusion of Art and Nature

Mirek Struzik's Award-Winning Public Sculpture Reflects on Nature's Oxygen Production

Unveiling the "Bubble Forest," a public sculpture by Mirek Struzik, that reflects on the ability of plants to produce oxygen. This unique piece of art, made of acid-resistant stainless steel, illuminates the night with programmable RGB LED lamps, becoming a beacon of light and a popular spot for photographers and tourists.

The inspiration for Bubble Forest came from the terrestrial and underwater flora. Struzik's deep studies of underwater flora and its ability to produce oxygen led to the creation of this masterpiece. The sculpture's location, right next to the seaside by the biggest shopping mall in France, CAP 3000, further emphasizes its connection to nature.

Struzik faced the challenge of discovering a spatial form that would best characterize the entrance to the shopping mall. The solution was to transfer organic microstructures to the macro scale, resulting in 18 steel stems/trunks ending with crowns in the form of spherical constructions representing a single air bubble.

The Bubble Forest is not just a visual spectacle but also an orientation spot on site. The sculpture, measuring 450cm x 450cm x 570cm, reflects both natural and artificial light, creating a mesmerizing effect. At night, it is illuminated with programmable RGB LED lamps, transforming the space into a magical forest of light.

The sculpture's unique properties and innovative design have earned it the prestigious Platinum A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award in 2020. This award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that contribute to societal wellbeing and make the world a better place.

Struzik's Bubble Forest is a testament to the fusion of art, nature, and technology. It serves as a reminder of the beauty of our natural world and the importance of preserving it. The sculpture is a shining example of how public spaces can be transformed into interactive art installations that engage, inspire, and educate.
