Laodian Shanzhai: A Fusion of Tradition and Fashion in Yunnan Cuisine

Restaurant Design Blends National Style and Modernity

This groundbreaking design in the Yunnan minority food and beverage industry seamlessly integrates national style and original ecology with fashionable elements. By delving into the relationship between food and culture, fashion and tradition, Laodian Shanzhai creates an emotional connection with its customers.

The restaurant's ambiance is created through the use of Chinese traditional style lanterns, dyed yarn, ethnic fabrics, and the enchanting Yuanyang terraces. These elements immerse diners in the rich ethnic customs of Yunnan, conveying warmth and enthusiasm.

Spanning 1700 square meters, Laodian Shanzhai presents a refined store image, elevated service level, and high-quality dishes that cater to customers from all over the country and the world.

The design team, led by Steven Hu, includes Zhoumei Li, Mei Dong, Zhenli Shi, Abu Nibu, Xiaojuan Bao, and Jing Shi. Their collective efforts have resulted in a space that combines the fire pits, windmills of Lijiang, and ancient wells of ancient towns, reflecting the vibrant national culture of Yunnan.

The project, which began in October 2018 and concluded in February 2019, was carried out in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province.

Laodian Shanzhai's design is rooted in extensive research on Yunnan's ethnic minorities, who contribute to the region's diverse food and cultural heritage. With the aim of promoting Yunnan's ethnic specialties to the world, the restaurant serves as a bridge between tradition and modernity.

Overcoming the challenge of seamlessly blending exquisite designs with traditional ethnic cultures and regional environments, Laodian Shanzhai successfully enters the urban complex while preserving its authentic charm.

This design not only showcases the beauty of national culture but also integrates it into the overall dining experience. From ingredient selection to the display of the Ming cook, Laodian Shanzhai provides customers with a holistic sensory experience, combining taste, smell, sight, hearing, touch, and emotion. The restaurant truly embodies art and becomes an integral part of life.

Laodian Shanzhai's design has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges the restaurant's well-designed, practical, and innovative approach, meeting professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.
